Hi, I downloaded the OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3 on my macbook and it updated my iPhoto to photo app. I want to share my albums to fb but when I go on share it only gives me 2 options- iCloud sharing or more-when i click more it goes to preferences, fb is already ticket but it does nothing? I have tried unticking and even restarting but nothing and there is no save option after ticking how i'd like to share. Please can anyone help? Also my whole system is so slow now since I've updated software. Anyone knows why and how I can change this? Thanks is advance :)

It is hard o say.

What model Mac, how much memory, how much free space on the hard drive and it sounds like you have done a simple upgrade whereas Lucy I think a cleanninstall is better for MacBooks and MBPs. Also what did you upgrade from? If Mavericks OS X.9 should be no performance loss, but earlier could be as both mavericks and Yosemite are pretty hungry for memory.

And... you still have iPhoto in your Application folder unless you specifically removed it. You can continue to use iPhoto to post your favorite photos on Facebook just as before.

Thanks to you both, harry my model is old I have to say I bought this macbook end of 2009. It is a 13" macbook, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. It says I have 40.43 gb left of storage. I kept getting messages to update the new software so I eventually did that about a month ago. Before that point I had whatever came with the mac when I bought it end of 2009-sorry as you can tell I am not the most technically minded person.
Thanks Chscag, is it normal you can't post from the new photos app then because when I took the tour after installing it with the new OS X Yosemite it said I would be able to share directly from the app?
I will check out if iPhotos is still in my applications. Best, Lucy.

so I tried to open iPhoto in applications and it said this:
The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS*X*Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store.
Then it took me to the app store and said this:
The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK Store.
Ah what do I do?
Thanks, L

finally in addition I googled the problem re sharing photos and it says this:
Any app on iOS can install a share extension. If you can’t share a photo with your favorite app, it’s because the developer hasn’t gotten around to adding this feature yet.
I can't believe fb wouldn't have done this as they advertise it when you take the tour of the new photos app that you can indeed share to fb?

LucyG, to get the latest version, delete iPhoto from your Applications folder, then go to the App Store and look under "Purchased" and you should see iPhoto there. Download and install that version and you should be good to go.

Thanks for this. I never purchased it though as it came with my macbook when I purchased the computer end of 2009? Would I not loose all the content if I did this?

You should not lose the content. When you reinstall, point to the existing photo library and everything should be good.

Do make backups before you do this, however. Sometimes things don't go as they "should."

Photos DOES share perfectly to FB. I just did it. I opened the picture I wanted and right clicked and then clicked Sharing then Facebook. In my case after a few seconds it told me to enter my password in Notifications in System Preferences for Facebook, Put in my FB password and did it again and it shared.

10.10.3 here.

thank you, have you tried to share an album? When I hover over the share icon only icloud appears and when I go to preferences and click fb it makes no difference?

I just tried clicking on an album then on the sharing icon in the top right of Photos and all my choices came up. I shared to FB and it posted. Something is wrong if you are only seeing iCloud as your only option.

What happens if you open System Preferences then click on Internet Accounts and then on Facebook?

Hi, yes I agree something is wrong as I don't have that choice so came on here for assistance on the matter. I did what you said and opened system preferences and then on internet accounts and Facebook was on there and enabled. I couldn't see the photos app in the left hand box but then I couldn't see any apps just the enabled internet ones. What do you suggest? Thanks.

I am trying to find out if a fix is in the works since Photos is so new. I have not tried a folder with more than a few pics in it as yet. will get back to you.

What I think you need to do, is to open System Preferences, then Extensions and then Share Menu, and enable what your Sharing by ticking the boxes.
As you see from my image, I can share to everywhere. Alternatively if you click the More • • • Button, it will take you too the menu in System Preferences that you need to enable.

You are correct on the extensions folder to enable the shared items, but their issue now is any folder in Photos with over 30 pics is not uploading all of them. I searched and it seems like some bug which I am sure will be addressed soon.

I just confirmed the OP is correct. I found a folder in Photos with 49 pics and FB is missing from sharing no matter what one does, but when I selected 25 pics and clicked share, FB was back and works. 30 seems the current limit.
