Hi
I have a beige G3 running 9.2. it only has a 4 gig drive (dont use it that often) so ive brought a 40 gig ExcelStor hard drive.
I plugged it in but i can seem to mount the drive to format it. I have a zip internally which ive disconnected for this purpose of the drive. Once all installed i want to remove the 4 gig.

Any idea's how i can mount the drive and format/partition it.
Getting desperate now, and frustrated
Thanks

If your G3 is like mine (G3 233Mhz ), then you may have a small problem. When I upgraded my drive, I unplugged the 4GB drive and plugged in the 40GB in place of the 4GB drive. I think you may have a revision A G3. Which does not support the IDE master/slave configuration.

Hard drive

thanks for the reply
Its the same G3 as yours. I dont mind unplugging the 4gig. Thats what i want to do. How did you get to see the drive and format it. I cannot see it at all.
Is there any software i can get to format the drive.
Apples drive utility does not recognise the drive.

On mine I have a CDROM drive. I used it to boot from an install CD.
