Like the title says...I bought lightroom 6 from Adorama , I thought it would be better to have the actual CD instead of the download version .. Well when I put the dvd in it buzzs and whirls for 5-10 seconds then spits it out .. I tried several other dvd's (photo cd's and movie dvd's ) so it's not the dvd player ...

Any ideas.. ?

Without any further information about your Mac or which version of OS X it's running, we are unable to assist you with the installation of Lightroom 6. Have you been to the Adobe support site? It sounds like Lightroom 6 is not compatible with your Mac.

Lightroom 6 should be compatible and work OK with Yosemite. Have you tried the Lightroom DVD in another computer or with an external disk drive? I know you said that your Photo CD and movie DVDs are OK, but it may be worthwhile to try the Lightroom DVD in another disk drive.

If it's working in other machines, suggest powering yours down, take a can of air and give 3-4 quick blasts in various directions through the slot of your drive.

Yes I thought maybe dust but this is the same iMac that was going black (about a month ago) and was taken to apple store and completely cleaned and all drivers & updates double checked ..

There's no way adobe would have anything in the photoshop CC bundle that would prevent another version of lightroom from installing..?

Since the Lightroom 6 install DVD is working OK on two other machines, that really leaves the problem with your iMac. As a matter of fact, I just read last night in a MacLife article how great Lightroom 6 is with Yosemite. (after I responded to your question)

And no, why would Adobe prevent Lightroom 6 from installing? And since the DVD pops out, it's not even being accessed much less installing. The problem lies with your iMac's optical drive. Why not try what "bobtomay" suggested?
