can't find back arrow so I can go back to previous web page like I did on window pc

In what browser in Windows and how did you go back?

If you're using Safari, the back and forward arrows are located in the upper left corner of the browser. They should be there unless you've opted to remove them. To get the arrows back (if they're gone) right click on the top of the Safari menu bar (where the three dots are). Then select "customize" toolbar. Drag the arrows back in place and press "done".

Also how do you have links opening? In the same window or in a New Tab? If it's a new Tab, the Back is not going to work as the window you came from is another tab.

It's for linking to specific posts in a thread. It's great if you need to point someone to a thread that has a solution without subjecting them to the whole thread. In essence, you can say "here's the answer."

Great. But when I click one, nothing seems to happen. What's step two?

When you click a permalink, you'll notice that your post is now at the top of the page. Should you want to now link to this, copy the URL from the address bar. If you look, you'll notice that the end of the URL contains your post number: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-x-operating-system/283447-cant-find-back-arrow-so-i-can-go-back-previous-web-page-like-i-did-window-pc.html#post1444248

Your Permalink is #15. Click on #15 and not the word Permalink. Your post will be the only one on the page. Works here in every browser known to man.

I use it all the time when wanting to single out a post in a thread.
