Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
When doing the repair permissions and repair disk, boot from the install disc to do so.
Select language, continue, then go to utilities>disk utilities in the menu bar.
Once done just quit utilities and restart your Mac.
Clean install is wiping the disk before installation.
My preferred choice always!
Other than myself, from what I can tell, most people who have not run into problems did the clean install.

How do I boot from the install disk?
While running disk check it tells me that it needs to be fixed and needs to be booted from the install disk.

Also where do I select 'language, continue, then go to utilities>disk utilities in the menu bar' ?

restart and hold C or option as soon as you hear the chime.
As for language, that will be the first thing that pops up off the install disk, then click proceed or continue or whatever it says (I cant remember what the tab says, but you'll see it), then at the top of the screen you will have a menu bar, where you go to utilities, and select disk utility from the dropdown menu.

Also, I should add if you haven't got a backup, you should make one now, preferably a bootable back up as well as time machine backup!

I booted from the disk, ran repairs and now can't eject the disk.
It just keeps booting from the disk.

What do I do?

I just tried that and got the same result.
How would my normal account (admin) not have access to everything? How would a different user account effect anything assuming the 1st account has admin rights?

Thanks for the help though :)

Trying a different user account will tell you whether your issue is related to only your user account or is system wide. In turn, this identifies and narrows down where to look for the solution.

I tied the eject botton last night while turning it bak on and it was't cooperating but it seemed to work this morning.

Anyway after doing the disk repair and it fixing errors I am still having my original problem. If it matters I used the original disk that came with the MBP to do the repairs.
