Apple didn't manufacture any of those printers. They were all re-badged printers, with almost all of them actually manufactured by Canon.

Its the same with external monitors. None of them have been manufactured by Apple. Just about all of them have been re-badged Samsung monitors. I believe that all of the internal displays for Macs with built-in displays have their display panels made by LG.

An interesting bit of trivia... Just before Steve Jobs returned to Apple, a deal had been worked out for Hewlett Packard (HP) to be the new manufacturer of all Apple-branded printers. Then Steve came back and took over as Apple CEO. He talked to the folks at HP, and somehow managed to really pis s them off. (Steve wasn't the most diplomatic person.) The deal was cancelled, and for years after that HP's support for Macs was dismal. Even to this day HP has had a horrid reputation for providing up-to-date drivers for Mac's in a timely fashion when needed.

If you read through the thread you will see that Canon's latest drivers for the original poster's printer don't support Catalina.
