Hi,

I am having ''Could not load Printers & Scanners preference pane.'' error when I try to open Printers ad Scanners.

Same thing when I try to print, so I can not print at the moment.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

I am using Catalina 10.15.3
Macbook Pro 2016

Thanks,

Berke

Welcome to our forums.

Let's see if your Printer & Scanners preference pane is there. Open Finder and go to:

Macintosh HD/System/Library/PreferencePanes/PrintAndScan.prefPane/

If it's there as I show above, then something is preventing it from being loaded. Do you have any other printer or scanner software loaded?

Thank you for your reply,

Actually, this printer was just working fine. It is Brother 1211W. And also I can not use the printers at office.

That file is sitting there, I have just checked.

Please see the error attached, maybe this can help?

thank you,

Check on the Brother website that you have the latest driver downloaded for your printer.

I have formatted my macOS.

Just for my own information - what do you mean by "formatting" the macOS?

Did you reload the macOS?

Or exactly what did you mean by "formatting the macOS"?

One can format a storage device, but an OS???

I have deleted my old MacOS and installed a new one and everything was working fine since today.

Now I am getting this error again ''Could not load Printers & Scanners preference pane.'' when I click Printers & Scanners at System Prefences.

I have installed my Brother printer I have printed out documents from it but when I move to office and try to print, again I could not. With out any error the word box closes. :[

ok, i have found a solution, thanks for all the help,
I am sending you my solution below;

Launch Terminal.
Copy this command and enter it, followed by Return: sudo su -
Enter the administrative password for your account.
Now copy and paste the file lines below as a group.
In the Terminal, press Command-D, which exits the special “superuser” mode you entered in step 3.
Open the Printers & Scannings preference pane.
Add back your printers one at a time and change the defaults back to the way you want them.
The commands are:

launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
rm /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
cp /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.default /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
rm /etc/cups/printers.conf
launchctl start org.cups.cupsd

You should not need to restart your Mac after entering these commands, as CUPS is a standalone system.
