Can I safely delete the file derby.log

This file is in my user directory: derby.log.
Can I safely delete it?
Where did it come from and why was it put in my user directory?

MacOS 10.15.5
A user directory is the directory where all the data for a particular user is stored. It's found in the Users folder at the top level of the startup disk.
