I have airpod 1, the left AirPod is missing, son gave me his left one, it fits in the case perfectly, but it doesnt connect with my other airpod, the rhs one. Is it possible to have them work as a pair? If so how? thanks

Put both airpods into the case, then open the lid and bring it close to an iPhone, you should see a indicator pop up showing the amount of charge of the two airpods and the case. If the charge is low or dead, then let it charge in the case overnight.

I don't own the airpods, so can't really help with specific stuff. My wife and daughter have them, but we haven't gone through a replacement process for a single airpod.

Unfortunately, AirPods are designed to work in pairs that are matched together, so using a left AirPod from a different set won’t work. Each AirPod is paired with its original counterpart for Bluetooth connectivity.

I had to replace one of my Airpods. The left one started crackling which was a know issue at the time. I went into the Apple store and they gave me a new left airpod. The tech sync'd it just like the article shown in post 2. One thing - they must be the same generation and have the same firmware. That could be the issue if the steps in the link do not work.

Did your son unpair it from their devices?
