Hey all.

I've purchased a new MBA and waiting for it to come. However, I got to thinking that once I turn it on and start using it, it will be mostly for work, but my current MBP will be at home with my external monitor like a home computer.

My question is: would I be able to transfer my apps that I use on my MBP to the new MBA and still use them on both laptops? I'm specifically interested in my office apps and adobe pro?

Is there a way to sync up the 2 notebooks so that all my music, films, pictures etc...gets transferred from MBP to MBA?

Also, the MBA will be running Lion while my MBP still runs on Snow Leopard. How can I sync my Mail so that all my emails and folders stay as they are, and I do not have to set up a new mailbox on the MBA and download all 15,000+ emails from gmail and sort them again!?

Thank you!

well, I'm not going to copy everything but I definitely want some of my music and pictures for sure (the MBA is 256 GB).

Thanks for the article!

I'm more worried about my Mail transfer. I just don't want to download ALL my emails from gmail all over again and then sort them into folders...can't I just drag and drop them from the old Mail to new Mail?

That's possible, sure. But it might violate the license agreement you, um agreed to. Check that out to see if you're allowed to use the apps on two computers.

You didn't pay for an app, you paid for a license or for licenses to an app.

bump - anyone know how to transfer the Mail settings / layout so that all folders and emails come over to the new MBA as they are on the MBP?
