Hello. The other day I noticed burn marks on my MacBook Pro, near the vents where the hinges are - I must admit I'm really worried that the computer has some overheating problem which I'm not aware of. They're only visible on the left and on the right - please see the photos. Should I contact Apple Genius Bar or is it something I shouldn't be worried about? I guess it's not normal is it?
Thank you all for your help.

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

I don't believe those are burn marks. They look more like dust or dirt marks from air being blown out by the fan(s) through the vents. If they were burn marks your MacBook Pro would probably have been destroyed. In any event, you probably should take it to your local Apple store and have them look it over. From the photos it appears you're not in the US since the keyboard on your MacBook Pro is an European model.

If your computer were "over" heating, it would shut down. Since your photos show that it has not shut down, it is not, therefore, overheating. I'm with Charlie, that's dirt/dust being blown out.

Definitely dust being blown out of the vents...

I wipe down my MBA with a slightly moistened paper towel to clean that off.

I think that it's just dark dust as well. If it were "burning"…it's possible that the black plastic piece that covers the display hinge assembly…would show signs of warping or melting if burning was actually going on.

As above, it's dirt. The two fans on the 15" MacBook Pro line up with the dirt marks.
