I had a 2005 XP disc set laying around and thought I might as well install it in bootcamp.

I had the media edition:

Media editions happens to be a 2 CD set. Supposedly you can't upload a 2CD set because during the setup, you have no way to eject the first cd to upload the second. Well, I was unaware of this until about half way through, so rather than backing completely out when it was time to insert CD #2, I clicked browse, tried every way in the world to eject the disc, and ended up clicking cancel. From there it just continued installation from using only the first CD.

The end result was a windows XP, that had no internet browser, but nothing else seems to be missing. I used a bootcamp driver disc from a friend and everything works great. I'm not sure it's actually "media center" XP since nothing seems different, maybe all the media center stuff was on Disc #2..

I downloaded safari onto a usb drive on a different computer, then uploaded it as a browser.

My main goal in having XP was to be able to run autoCAD so I think it will work great, except the fact that it only recognizes 2.76 GB of Ram :( **** 32bit crap

All you have to do is download IE 8 from the MS download center and install it from within Windows. (Windows will not work correctly without IE.) After IE 8 is installed, make it the default browser and uninstall Safari.

Regards.

IE provides the HTML engine and other help functions in Windows. Also, the Windows file Explorer uses IE for folder and file display. Additionally, many programs including some of the more popular business applications require IE in order to function correctly.

So yes, you should download and install IE 8. You DON'T have to use IE as your browser, but it needs to be there.

Regards.
