Boot Camp and Windows 7 problems

Ok, I am having a world of problems trying to install Windows 7 on my MacBook. I have OS 10.5.5 and Windows 7 Ultimate. I have completely updated the Mac OS, and even downloaded the Boot Camp 3.1 Update. I have installed 7 through the Boot Camp utility in the Mac OS. Everything loads and installs no problems at all. Of course, I have the same problems that everyone reports.

Then, in Windows 7, I try to install Boot Camp 3.1 - but it won't install - saying I need 3.0. So, I insert my 10.5.5 Mac OS disc, and try to install it - however, Windows tells me that there are known compatibility issues with this program, and basically refuses to install it.

So - here is my problem....How can I install Boot Camp 3.1 if I can't even install 3.0???? I have checked all the forums, and I can't seem to find anyone having this particular problem. - nor can I find any download link for 3.0. Please help - this is driving me insane.

The only way you're going to get to install Boot Camp 3.0 is to buy Snow Leopard. It's included on the install DVD. And as you found out, you can not install Boot Camp 3.1 unless you have 3.0 installed first.

Why not purchase Snow Leopard? Certainly not expensive. ($29.99 at your local Apple store or Best Buy)

Hmmm...I could do that. But actually, I was able to solve 90% of my problems the ugly way. Essentially, I extracted the Boot Camp 3.1 file and found all the individual drivers, extracted them, and then ran their individual installers.

This fixed all the problems - but I'm still having issues with the mouse pad, and function keys. Anyway, thanks for the advice.
