black screen after i boot up on my macbook

my 08 macbook the screen goes almost blank after it boots up the screen is very dark and if I look at it at a angle I can see the screen working and when I press the button to the right of esc and then fn the screen comes on for about 15 sec and then blank again

The button to the right of ESC is the button to dim the screen. The button to the right of THAT button is to make it brighter. Try that one.
