5 day old macbook: battery hasnt gone past 90% empty yet ... would it be a good idea to drain it out and give it a nice full charge overnight? whats the benefit of this?

The battery that comes with your macbook is not the kind that needs to be fully drained, fully charged, fully drained, fully charged, ect. frequently to maintain its health. I'd say perhaps a periodic (monthly or more) calibration of the battery would be a good idea, but otherwise, have it plugged in whenever you can.
