Hi there - the battery power indicator has vanished from the top display bar of my MacBook. This is hugely frustrating as obviously I need to know when my laptop is about to run out of power!

I have searched all over to find out how to restore it with no luck. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious... anyone know what it is??

System Preferences - Energy Saver

Place the check mark back at 'Show battery status in menu bar'.

If the check mark is there, remove it, close System Preferences, open it and put it in again.

Think we all miss the obvious one from time to time.
