I got an STM bag from a macshop here, and love it.

This is the one that I got. My macbook fits very snugly into it, no troubles.

I suggest calling or visiting a mac shop, rather than 'some store' where they're more likely to know their stuff, AND are likely to have both the bag and the same model laptop in the store. If they can't give you a demo, take in your laptop and try for yourself.

As for the bags, I was pretty impressed by them. It was either that or a Crumpler for me. If I'm gonna be carrying a laptop around, I want to do so in a quality bag, but I also wanted one that didn't look like your average plain black bag, which would be an open invitation for a slashing :p

I suggest you just go down to your nearest mac store and check them out for yourself.

Got the bag this afternoon and I must say it was well worth the money. The quality is top notch. My 13" macbook fits perfectly in the soft interior. It doesnt lie at the bottom of the bag so the mac is safe. It is very well protected. The bag is not very large but it fits everything quite well. The material is very tough but comfortable to the touch. The zippers are inside out and form a rubber seal when you zip it up. Very secure and water proof. It has waist and sternum buckles that are easily hidden. The small front pouch has ample space for the charger cd's books pens etc.. The bottom of the bag stores a small bag cover type thing. This pulls out of the bottom and covers the whole bag in case your in a hurricane or somerhing.
I find it kinda useful if when I am on a plane or train or somewhere public. Its kinda like extra security. It has two bottle/umbrella holders. Oh yeah, It also has a phone pouch(also removable) and an ipod pouch thats next to a small earphone portal. It seals up rather well so it maintains the waterproofing provided by the zippers. The ipod pouch is removable and also serves as a portable ipod protector. (two products in one..All right!). I had about 50 pounds in the bag and it was very comfortable. Mind you I have a horrible back. STM also offers a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend this product to everyone especially college students.
