Bad optical Drive

Laptop is what? Ten days old and the optical drive is ******.

Three different movies and EVERY movie freezes in the middle.

The one in my POS Dell at least had the good grace to go a year before dying.

well, if it plays at all, it could be something else. does it play music cds ok? does it read data discs? will it burn?
also have you restarted since this started?

one thing you could always try is cleaning out all your system and application caches with something like onyx.

hope it's something we can easily sort out.

Yeah, I felt kind of bad not just having Apple fix it "Like I abandoned it" but Apple said it was so new Microcenter should just switch it and amazingly they agreed.
