Hi people,
I just switched to Mac... a new world! :)

I got a big problem and I hope that in this forum someone can help me. I already asked in several forums, but it seems that nobody knows the solution, even if it is (I think) a simple problem: I transferred all my music from the pc to my new macbook and then added to itunes; how can I transfer JUST playlists, ratings, play count and last played from my ipod (formatted windows) to itunes?

Someone suggested me to use third party software that allow to transfer these information together with the songs, but I want to avoid this because I organized my music in folders in a particular way.

There is a software, igadget (that is perfect I think), which allows to update these information in itunes, but unfortunately it's just for pc. Does anyone knows a software for mac that has this function?

Please help me :(

I realise you say you would rather avoid 3rd Party Software, but here goes anyhows:

Senuti

Playlists

Senuti not only reads the playlists that you made on your iPod, but it allows you to transfer them back to your computer as well. A simple drag and drop action within the application will not only copy songs to your computer and and add them to iTunes, but it will make a new playlist with the same name and add all of the songs to that list.

Thank you very much for your answer!
Actually what I want to avoid it's copying songs, not using third party software... As I wrote, for pc I used igadget that is a great program, but I didn't find any similar software for mac.
The problem with senuti is, if I have understood, that you have to copy the songs to transfer ratings, playlists and counter. You cannot transfer just these info on the itunes library (like igadget does). Am I right?

Option-drag (to duplicate) all the files and folders inside the iTunes folder — except the iTunes Music folder — to another folder. Don't bother holding down the Option key if you're dragging them to another disk or partition.

If something goes awry with iTunes, put one or all of the backup files back in the iTunes folder.

(I presume the iTunes Music Folder contains the song files. I've never stored my music files in iTunes. That way, I can back up the entire iTunes folder with a single drag, with no possibility of duplicating the song files.)

The top pic is of my log-in name Library folder. (Click the thumbnail.) The music folder is in the centre.

The second pic shows the iTunes folder inside the Music folder.

The third pic is of the open iTunes folder, where everything iTunes is supposed to reside (this should have occurred automatically). This includes the mp3s and other music files, unless changed in iTunes' Preferences, which I've done. I don't want the mp3s in the iTunes folder because if they are, it isn't as easy to copy the entire folder as a backup.
