I have sized my spreadsheets so they are ½ screen high by almost a screen wide. That way I can open and see two at once when needed.

Prior to two updates ago I could open these directly. After the last update I had to open Libreoffice first or they would resize to the size of the splash screen. After the latest update they open to the size of the splash screen no matter what I do.

Is there any way to make a spreadsheet open to the previously saved size?

I use Libreoffice 6.4, and after creating and saving a spreadsheet with your dimensions, double clicking it made it open the same as it was.

I had a look in Preferences, and the only relevant thing I see is in Load/Save / General where Load user-specific settings with the document is checked - is it checked in your LO preferences? .

I am up to version 25! I don't know the last version that opened properly but it was two updates ago. I would like to get the current version to do this.

I never thought of this but I have version 7 on another computer. I'm going to grab that and hold off on any updates.

Load-user-specific settings is checked but I don't think that has anything to do with the dimensions of the sheet.

That worked. I sized and saved a sheet and it opened as sized.

That was a good work around and solution for your problem, and you might want to drop the developers a line and suggest they put the feature back into any future update as I'm sure others using the software would be affected the same as you were and possibly no solution available for them.

That's a great idea but I can't figure out how to do it! The document foundation lists many Lists and addresses none of which seems to allow for making a suggestion. Can you suggest anything?

I finally figured out how to create a bug report! It is a fairly difficult process in CIPU format -- Clear If Previously Understood.

Their web page provides several areas to contact them:

And specifically, a feedback page, which I would think would be the place to send your request:
