I have two DVD's that I'm trying to convert for use on my Apple TV and Macbook (neither are illegal to rip, BTW) but I'm having massive audio problems.
I've used MacTheRipper to get the DVD onto my HDD. No problem there, if I play the files from the HDD in DVD Player they play perfectly.
I've then popped them into Handbrake and have chosen a number of different combinations of settings and formats, but I cannot get the audio working correctly.
The sound is either electrical noise, a constant hissing sound like white noise. Or it is like a very bad, semi-slow-motion, computerised version of what it should sound like. I.e. voices sound slowed, deeper and rougher than they should. This happens with AAC and AC3 audio.
Video is perfect, no complaints at all.
I tried using VisualHub instead of Handbrake and exactly the same happens to the audio.
I wondered if it was a codec problem, so I have installed Perian. No change after that. I've also tried playing the files in QuickTime and VLC as well as iTunes and on the Apple TV, with the same results all the time.
I'm lost now, so I'm hoping somebody will have some inspiration for me. FWIW, all software is at the latest release and there are no other problems with media playback on my Macbook.
Please help?!
