Apps Won't Open!?

MacBook Pro 2.16ghz Core Duo | 1GB RAM | 100 GB HDD | 256MB ATI RADEON x1600
Why is it that OS X refuses to open some programs? One example it Mac The Ripper. I try to open the app, but all i see is its icon on the Dock bounce a few times and then stop (with no black arrow below it indicating its open) I tried closing all my other programs to free up my ram with no results.

Any help?

Is it a PPC app? I posted in the Macbook forum about a similar thing (which got moved to the OSX forum) where PPC apps would sometimes refuse to launch. Quitting of one random Universal app would allow them to then launch and run.
