Looks like it's the whole shebang again?
Gosh, I just recovered from the last one.

I guess so, I'm sure getting plenty of that. Seven devices to update today. I only just added backups of my iPhone and iPad yesterday to my "recovered" MBP so at least I'm ahead of the game that far.

Okay, all devices done. For a patch the macOS update was quite large at 2.5 GB + and took about the same tme as the recent update to 11.3 but all went very smoothly.

One of the ways I am trying to speed up the process is to set up my MBP as a cache for the other devices. That way, I only download the macOS update once, then the MBP is the server in the LAN in the house. Seems to work. Here is Apple information on it. Set up content caching on Mac
It works, I think on High Sierra and later, maybe even on some earlier versions.

The app tracking transparency option has not been mentioned here. It was not of much interest to me because when iOS 14.5 came out I toggled "Allow Apps to Request to Track" to OFF. Consequently not only are apps prevented from tracking me for the purposes of passing my details on the third parties but prevented from asking me. The "bug" apparently greyed out this option for some users.
In Location Services I have that switched ON but have set all of the apps on the list to "While Using" and do not allow them to run in the background with the exception of App Clips.
So check: Settings > Privacy > Tracking > Allow Apps to Request to Track. If it's ON you will get individual requests from apps and they will be listed with individual toggles to turn on/off (if you change your mind) in the screen below it.

sadly I read this about backing up before update too late and already have done that updates.

tho when I need to do a backup I usually use TM and not iCloud. I only have 5gb the default space and dont want it filled up. yes it matter whether it is TM of iCloud?

I just checked my phone and iPad to make sure that the tracking for apps to request tracking to OFF.
thanks for that tip.

my location is also on and only ones I want are set to 'while using'

Lori:

You can not use Time Machine to backup your iPhone. Just back it up instead to your Mac. Also you can buy additional iCloud space for 99 cents/month (US). The additional space is worth it for backups and also for documents and some other things.
