Middle (usually yellow) button is grey after upgrading to High Sierra.

I couldn't find anything in Preferences that addresses this. Am I overlooking something?

Surely there must still be a way to "park" Mail in the Dock!

Make sure you're not running Mail in full screen mode. Sometimes that is not obvious, but if it does occur, the yellow minimize button will be grayed out.

Well, the yellow button lit up today. It wasn't in full screen mode. Any time that happens, it's accidental, and I immediately get out of it.

It doesn't seem that the Shut Down did it, since this was not the first time it was shut down since the upgrade.

As long as it continues to work, the cause of the temporary outage will remain a mystery. Nothing to investigate now!

No, I did not change the light bulb. ;)
