Yep, i have a feeling WWDC is going to be quite boring this year unless your big into the iPhone... I know the macbook is gonna wind up getting a case redesign like a month after i but it but ya know what, its still a mac, and its still going to be fast, so i really dont care if it gets updated.

People also need to remember, it's called World Wide Developers Conference for a reason. Every year I see many people on the forums get their hopes up and psych them selves out and then later make comments like "I wasn't impressed" etc. etc.

This is my first post, and I am a little unfamiliar with how apple works.

I am not in dire need of getting a new laptop asap, however I was planning on buying a new MB before sept 15, so i could get the b2s deal for the free ipod touch.

Will this new design most likely be out before the deal is up?
Would the new design be covered in the deal?
Will they have a huge backorder so I can't even order one before it's up?
Would the price increase substantially?

Like i said, i can wait to purchase a new MB, but i would like to get the ipod touch to offset the financial burden a bit.

Thanks!

Nobody seems to have realised that montevina is a DDR3 chipset rather than DDR2. Has anyone seen the price of 2Gb DDR3 Sodimms !!!!

Kingston has them at $238 each so it going to cost £238x2 = $476 to upgrade to 4Gb and in the UK this is likely to be £300 for the pair rather than £50-60 for 4Gb of DDR2 so thats another £250 ($500) on top of the price.

The big question will Apple go up the DDR3 route? Probably!

DOH !!!!!!

No one knows but Apple. Anything else is rumor and speculation.

i mean i agree with cwa that everything up to this point has been speculation, obviously and you can only take these rumors as just that, rumors. i think that the possibility was actually good for new MBs, but once the news got out that the new processors weren't going to be released until later, that pretty much killed it.

not to mention, before the new iphone came out today, when you went to apple's website they are still advertising for the "new" MBP with the 2.6 processor and multi-touch. it was one of the last things for them to update and is still "new", to them. why would they release another update just 3 months later?

Uhm.. why not update something though. The macbook hasnt been updated in like a year. MBP aside. There is no reason for them not too update the macbook's im thinking that they are going too update them soon because of students and what not going too college and stuff in September..

Uhh the regular macbooks were just updated in February. The reason for no update is so they can clear out old stock first with this iPod deal. I personally am getting the current blackbook on saturday, i cant wait any more for updates.

why update something that you are still calling "new?" i wasn't referring to the regular MB. and they have plenty of reasons NOT to do it, money being a big one. iApple is right about the iPod stuff. not to mention, if they released a new MB with the iphone, the release of both of them at the same time would detract the attention away from each other. now, the iphone can have all the attention and then later once the new processors come out, release the new MBs and MBPs.

since the keynote ended, does that mean there won't be any updates to MB and MBP?

most likely, unless there is a big surprise, I would say you have to wait some more.

As I said earlier, I was waiting till WWDC. Nothing happened, so I went and purchased my first MBP yesterday afternoon!

I waited for about 8 months, and decided to just do it, and I am very happy with my decision.

Can we safely presume that the new MBP will be available before August? I'd like to have a new Mac for the beginning of college year. I'm currently running a 3-year old PBG4, and would like to upgrade. I don't mind waiting, but I'd certainly like to get a free iPod Touch when I buy the new Mac.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Apple hasn't announced anything yet and the MBP just had a major refresh in January. The new Intel chipset has been delayed, which will likely further push back any product updates.

Buy the machine you need now and it will continue to serve those needs long after an updated model is released.
