honestly i would love for this to happen because i am stuck with verizon and I really want the iphone. However supposedly there is a contract with att and there are also technical problems that the iphone will have to overcome in order to be introuced onto the verizon network. I do believe that apple would have better sales if it were available on verizon but I really dont think this will happen this year but who knows. it would be awesome though. I'd buy one so fast.

Has it been 5 years yet seems to me there is a contract with AT&T so even
if it will be offered to other providers it will not happen anytime soon without
lawsuits popping up.

The iPhone came out in summer of 2007, so no, five years is nowhere close to being up.

the 5 year contract with att is for the current apple iphone. whos to say they wont create a different iphone that is smaller or a "mini" version of the phone wich would be considered a different product. technically its not the same product so they can not sue.

Have you read the contract? Does it specifically state that it was only for the original iPhone or for every iPhone that Apple will release, or any phone that Apple will release for that matter? Don't make presumptions if you don't know all of the facts.

Just some stats CDMA supports 270 million while GSM supports
over 1 billion thats world wide and since Apple INC sells almost
world wide the market has basicly been spoken for however
CDMA has slightly better performance gains currently and that
is subject to change.

Yea I wrote that earlier in this thread. Couple that with the fact that the CDMA network takes a much bigger hit on Battery life then GSM and Apple is better off (if they are staying with only one technology and not duel mode) staying with GSM from a sales standpoint.

I never realized this but I guess Verizon doesn't really like apple much. Just about none of their phones are compatible with Macs... And they turned down the iPhone in the first place... :\

But who really has the facts? We can sit here all day and guess and make educated decisions, but the bottom line is we don't know. We don't know contracts, we don't know specifics, we don't know anything really, and if someone did know, they couldn't talk.

Sure they do. They have drivers for all of their EVDO cards. Also, most of their phones that allow for Bluetooth transfers will work right out of the box with a Mac. The only problem I've ever had was finding an iSync driver for my Moto W755, but that was a brand new phone at the time.

Really? My Dare didn't work with bluetooth nor my Voyager. I couldn't find any drivers, either. Is it specifically LG Verizon phones, then?

My Razor would not pair with my Mac when I had Verizon made it impossible
for backing up address book.

Take a look on howardforums.com, it's a forum specific to hacking phones and you can usually find some Mac-specific threads. Just search for terms "LG" "Voyager" "iSync" and see what you come up with. They might not have specific drivers for the Mac, but there's usually workarounds.

With AT&T trying to work a deal to include 3G in their next MacBooks looks
like they may be staying with that provider.

even if iPhone goes over to verizon, imagine how ridiculous the monthly service charge would be

+GPS
+Visual Voicemail

just two things I thought of off the top of my head, god knows what else they'd come up with. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to charge extra for stuff like Wifi.

Yeah, but people pay anything to have the latest coolest looking item, no matter how cheaply you can get the usefulness of it elsewhere.

Verizon will make an iPhone plan similar if not exactly like AT&T's. With Verizon's acquisition of Alltel they will also have my circle for it too. Verizon isn't as dumb as you people think. We are all consumers and they know if someone can get the same phone with a plan that's cheaper somewhere else they know the consumer will take the cheaper plan, however, if the plans are the same price, but Verizon has more features, then the consumer will take the Verizon iPhone.

I have a Verizon Blackberry, and they did not limit my bluetooth, or the connectability with my computer. I've made all my own ringtones for it, put my full mp3's on it. I can download pictures...etc...from the internet to my phone. I know some phones are limited but with a high end multi-carrier phone, such as my blackberry, they aren't stupid enough to put limitations on it.

I found your point interesting. One of the most common things I have heard about Verizon is how they limit features. That point alone has kept me from Verizon but now I wonder - does Verizon really limit features?

I guess economics and times may have changed but when I had them up untill
Nov 08 they charged me for text an Vcast on mine and my wife's Razor now
I have an I-phone she has an LG and we have more options plus 3g all for
12.00 more a month your contract may vary I liked Verizon but they did not
compete in the price for extras like AT&T did.

Most of their smartphones don't have wi-fi, just a "coincidence" I'm sure. But you'll be paying at least $13 more/mo for Visual Voicemail and GPS usage for a comparable phone. If Verizon did take the iPhone in, I'm sure they would adjust their prices to be more in line with AT&T, though.
