the above is a system used by Apple employees to communicate with each other, a little like Skype I think - it's on my laptop and I can't remove it. Help!

Okay ... get ready ... here comes the next question (actually two questions):

1. How did it get there?

2. Why don't you save yourself and us a lot of time and just give us the whole story please? We're offering to help but we're not psychic. Tell us the whole tale.

A friend of mine worked for Apple and installed it on my laptop - I now get asked if I want updates every 2 minutes and it's driving me nuts. It's not something I can use as I don't work for Apple and I want rid of it! It can't be that tricky to sort this out?

The first thing to do would be to head for System Properties - Accounts and remove it from the startup items so that it is not auto launching.

Why not ask your friend who installed it to remove it since he works for Apple?

Or call AppleCare, I'm sure they'd love to no that their internal software is being installed on unauthorized machines. ;)

AAAAHNNHH. Wrong.

AppleConnect handles "Single Sign On" and VPN connections for Apple internal corporate networks. Nothing like Skype at all. If you don't want it, just uninstall it using AppCleaner

remove apple connect

I'm a former Apple employee and the IT guy was kind enough to migrate some files from my work laptop to a personal one before I left. In the migration I also got Apple Connect. I tried removing the application by trashing it (I know I should have researched before doing that) and I keep getting the update notice, still have the VPN "lock" icon on my main window bar and want them both gone.
All searches for AppleConnect and VPN on my system return zero results.
Any ideas? The update reminder is more than a little annoying.
Oh, and I tried contacting said IT guy for help but haven't gotten a response.

You're not likely to get an answer. Prior to your post there hadn't been a response to the thread since 2013. According to the user profile member Domlet hasn't been seen on the forum since 2010.

As Sly mentioned, it is very doubtful that you will get any sort of reply from those old members, but reading your problem are you looking for a solution to get rid of "AppleConnect" from your Mac.

Personally I'm not really sure but I am sure others will let you know how if that is actually your question. Maybe repost with a new thread to your particular problem.

And by the way, welcome to Mac-forums.

BTW: if and when you reply on that ask, don't forget to include your Mac model and Mac OS version you are using with the Mac you are having problems with.
