Apple CD-player disappeared

Finally got OS 9.2.1 (from buggy 8.5), however my Apple CD player has mysteriously disappeared. I have no DVD, but that's all that shows in Apple pulldown menu. What gives?

Check your extensions. Make sure that the cdrom extension is enabled.

yeah ur suppose to use iTunes now :-\ or so apple hopes.
