Any other software that can edit PSD files?

I have a PSD file that I need to edit but I'd hate to spend all that money on Photoshop. Is there any other cheaper or free software that is good for editing PSD files?

the gIMP should be able to do it for you i believe http://www.gimp.org/

but im not 100% sure

I second coach_z. The Gimp should be able to open that psd file.

Just fyi: Preview will let you open it as well... you just won't be able to do much editing...

Won't Photoshop Elements do PSD files too? It is still a pretty pricey solution ($80 or so), but less than Photoshop itself.

dont forget graphic converter
it's not too pricey ($30 or €25) and worth every penny
There are very few graphics formats that graphic converter can't open or save to

Photoshop elements is the ideal version of photoshop for uncomplicated editing of photos and within the budget of most people. I used to use it on wind... and am now using it on the mac. if you need a full list of programs try filext.com to see which are compatible with psd files.
