Annoying itunes Problem

Hi, iTunes keeps popping up, telling me to sign in to the iTunes store and asking me for my Apple ID (my email address) and password. When I do this, it then asks "Did you forget your password?" which I didn't. If I hit 'cancel' a couple of times, the pop up goes away - for a while until it pops up again. My icon in the dock is NOT set to open at log-in. How can I make this stop happening?
