Just a quick Q.

I got broadband internet a few weeks ago so, as you can imagine, my eMac pretty much stays downloading 24/7.

It's on on without a shutdown for often days at a time. Was wondering if this is bad for the computer or not? Should I be scheduling in shudowns to give it a break once in a while, or does it make little difference?

Thanks for the advice :)

shut it down at least once a week, system repairs the hard disk automaticaly on start up (shut down and strart up, only restart wont help)
repare permitions every two weeks. thats pretty fine for maintanance. I have first generation eMac 700 for around 2 years, its up and running 24/7.
with this schedule of maintenance had no problems with it so far

sounds sensible. thanks for that. :)

I love the eMac and want it to last as long as possible.

I have a black & white Classic Mac from 1990 that still works fine today. Never had even the slightest problem with it (even after dropping it down the stairs back in '94). That is pretty amazing considering all it has been through.
