The New Macbook
Hi I am still getting very frustrated with my new mac. This forum has been of great help though...

I just want to batch resize photos .. i have downloaded a few of the resizers but they seem impossible .. easy batch photo ad reaize me. I cant figure out how to get the files into the program. Do I really need to open up finder and drag and drop?
Is there not something simmilar like ACDsee or Faststone?

I thought mac was supposed to be ideal for working with images but I Find it more cumbersome and I all i want to do is resize a few simple photos for Facebbook..

Also.. I have some albums ...once I make an album is it possible to acces the photos through finder to say for example to attach them to emails or upload?
Thanks again for the advice!!! Much appreciated!

There is an automator action, in fact there are 2

one is called resize images, the other is called make thumbnails

It is easy to create an automator script that should accomplish that task

iPhoto won't resize Like a Photo editor would, but you don't need any extra program do do it either, it is already on your Mac. The easiest way for you to start would be to make sure Preview is down on your dock, may already be there, I keep it there just for things like this.

Step 1 Open up iPhoto and Command Click on all the photos you want to resize.

Step 2 Drag the photos you have selected to the Dock and drop on Preview. This will open up Preview with a side bar with those photos showing.

Step 3 In preview select all the photos in the side bar by clicking on the top one, then scroll to the last one and hold the Shift key down and click on last one.

Step 4 Go up to the tools menu in Preview and select Adjust Size. I use OTHER and a percentage of the original most of the time.

Now for sending your photos in iPhoto just select the ones you want to email and at the bottom of iPhoto you will see an Email Button. When you click on the Email button it will let you do some resizing just for Email.. Select the size you want and it will open up a new email with your photos already there. Look at the bottom right of your new email and you will another way to resize, this will always be there when there are photo's attached.

There are lots of other ways to do all this but this may help you get started...

iPhoto is great for storing all your photos. When you want to do something with them externally to iPhoto (like Facebook uploads), just export them to some folder that you've created as your "Facebook upload folder". In iPhoto, select all the photos that you want to export (and resize), choose File>Export... from the menu. There you can select the format, size, etc. and export them to your "Facebook upload folder" in batch. This method will keep your photos in iPhoto in their original condition (the more modifications you make to jpeg photos, the worse they will look).

I may be missing something here but why do you want to resize picture before putting them on Facebook? I never do and have never had an issue. Photos are just scaled automatically (I.E. 6MP photos in iPhoto are just scaled auto when I upload them to Facebook).
