I have included below some of the details about my I Mac. I just purchased 8GB Ram from OWC (4GB + 4GB) and plan on installing on my computer. My question is that my computer currently has 4GB total (2GB + 2GB) and when I install the additional 8GB do I need to move that RAM from the current Banks. OWC has a good video showing you how to remove the RAM and replace it but it doesn't mention keeping some of your existing RAM. Any and all help will be appreciated. Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac12,2 Processor Name: Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 4 GB 1 T Hardrive Here is what it shows under my info for the memory banks. ECC: Disabled BANK 0/DIMM0: Size: 2 GB Type: DDR3 Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x02FE Part Number: 0x45424A3231554538424655302D444A2D4620 BANK 1/DIMM0: Size: 2 GB Type: DDR3 Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x02FE Part Number: 0x45424A3231554538424655302D444A2D4620 BANK 0/DIMM1: Size: Empty Type: Empty Speed: Empty Status: Empty Manufacturer: Empty Part Number: Empty BANK 1/DIMM1: Size: Empty Type: Empty Speed: Empty Status: Empty Manufacturer: Empty Part Number: Empty
