First off I'd like to get it on Amazon, have gift cards there.

I've noticed in the past year that my computer's been getting slower. I use multiple Adobe programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign, along with internet browsing.

This was one model I was recommended but from what I've heard from other people, you can find cheaper versions without the Mac Certified logo. What would you guys recommend?

What Mac do you have and how much memory do currently have?

Upgarding to the most you and the Mac can support will be the best option always.

As far as memory to use goes though, I'd recommend first going to Crucial and using their memory search function to find the EXACT memory you require. The specifications of the memory, beyond the number of pins, size and speed, matter a lot to give you a stable computer.

Once you have the specific part number, you can search for that on Amazon to see if they sell it as well. If not, note ALL the specifics of that memory and find a matching one on Amazon from a reputable brand..

Crucial, Micron, Kingston, Corsair, PNY and OWC are some of the brands that come to mind right now..

OK, yes with 4GB of memory, you'll have a tough time using all of those apps with Photoshop and Indesign being memory hungry. So upgrading to the 16GB max on your MBP will makes things a lot better for you..

The rest of my statements about the specific memory in my previous posts still stands..

Other World Computing agrees with Crucial and says 2 8GB chips are possible.Upgrade Memory of MacBook Pro 2011 Models to 8GB, 12GB, 16GB 1333MHz DDR3L

Odds are the 4 GB chips were the highest capacity when that Mac was introduced. Apple probably hasn't officially tested the 2 8 GB chip configuration so there's no mention of it being supported. That has happened with a number of Mac models including mine.

Is this based on extensive past (or current) experience with New Years parties? If so, details man details. :D:D

Sadly Sly I can't remembet the details so they must have been good!

Yes 8GB will be fine, but 16GB in time will be better.
