I'm currently running 512 MB, as I added a 256 MB stick and I'm finding it to be insufficient even for daily use. So...I'm ordering a 512 MB stick from Crucial sometime this week.
Anybody wanna buy a 256 MB stick for $40?
I should consider this as my first slot = 128 But I have another concern now

gig sticks are so expensive right now...it's rediculous...like 400 bucks....I need them to get down to 512 stick pricing...like 120 bucks....ram prices are up right now anyways....I figure six months...and it should be closer to what I want to spend.

You're totally right. I don't know why RAM prices fluctuate the way they do, but I bought a 1GB stick from Crucial about a week ago for my 17" PB. It cost $478, after shipping and taxes. I checked THE NEXT DAY, and the price was $480 BEFORE shipping or taxes. I have no idea what's up with these mofos.

Ram companies are pretty crazy. They have fluxuating accurances of high inventory, and low inventory. Right now we are experiencing a time of lower inventory, thus higher prices....we had really low prices for a while..so people bought ram like crazy...causeing there to be more of a "shortage" in ram. So until that picks up..prices will be higher and higher...then slowly get lower and lower.

Speaking of price fluctuation...... I'm incredibly happy that I put in the order for the gig of RAM from Crucial last week.
Last night, I checked the price of the RAM and it had gone up $50.00 from the price I paid.
I just checked it again and the price is up to $599.99!!!!!!
But even with that price, it'd still be considered a sale compared to Apple RAM.

Shows how we need to be careful about the RAM sources out there! ;)
