Hello we are using 5520-e-All-in-One-Printer- on Mac .we have a probleme with the scan.if we try to scan from a program ,the scan doesn't work.If we try to scan from System Preferences… and then choose View > Print & Scan, is working without probleme.
is there any driver to install so that the we can use the scan from any program on Mac.

What is the printer manufacturer? Have you gone to their website and checked their support articles? When you are in System Preferences, does the printer show in the Printers & Scanners section? Is it listed under both Print and Scan? What OS X version is your mac running?

Yes as ferrarr said, without a lot more information it is hard to provide suggestions. The version of OS X you are using would be nice to know.

I do understand this is an HP printer and I know HP provides a lot of software for what you are wanting to do. What have you installed from HP?
