It must have been released in Croatia around about the same as here in Aust. The US saw it over a month ago I think. I recall it being discussed here on the forum. Most agreed with you.

I got the same impression from the preview. I probably wouldn't have gone to see it anyway, because I don't like dark pictures.

I have seen it 5 times and counting

You are one of those who would go right back to the end of the line right after finishing riding one of those killer roller coasters, I bet.

I have a friend who loves it and his favorite movies are all very dark so you are right there. I saw a bit of it at my friends house. It was ok but not something I would go out and buy.

it's not a horror movie. it's a historical and an epic movie about how 300 of the worlds bravest men fought with a 1000000 (yep it says a million) of their enemies, and how they would and should have won if they weren't betrayed.

You MUST go and see it :black:

I had to seriously suspend my disbelief, but I liked it a lot. I, and some people other people I know who saw it, got a feeling of political undertones related to the "war on terror" and Iraq.

A big "meh" from me.

The action scenes were great, but plot and character development were virtually non-existent.

Check out the graphic novel, though. It's nice.

I thought it was outstanding. I've seen it twice now and I'm sure I'll get it on DVD when it comes out.

And as I mentioned in the previous thread, it's impossible for me to see how this movie was some kind of WoT/Iraq political thing. It's about an actual recorded historical event 2,500 years ago, and it's based on a graphic novel that was written years before 9-11. It's not Frank Miller's fault that it was Persians who tried to invade Greece. :ninja:

Great quote from the movie:

Messenger: Why does this woman think she can speak amongst men?
Queen Gorgo: Because only Spartan women give birth to real men.

It was an outstanding movie. No political correctness. It's about a strong civilization, strong men, people with character, heroes. It's about people who are free, who want to be free, and are willing to fight to remain free when that freedom is threatened.

I was kind of miffed that the song in the trailer (NIN) wasn't used in the movie...

300 is definetely NOT a horror film.. It's a very well-done representation of a historical event.

I saw it mostly because of the killer animation (that's what I'll be majoring in, in the fall).

Of course the story line, and I read the 300 illustrated novel a while ago. It's basically a comic book of the movie made by Dark Horse Comics (my fave comic company).
