I have 2 1st Gen SEs 32GBs running 13.6.1 problem free. Just Thursday I read about security issues that I should immediate update to os 15.6.1. I have read about various issues with this update on 1st gen SE. Especially battery life. I still have 100% battery life on both phones. Anybody with knowledge about possible issues and fixes to updating this old iPhones. I've wanted new SEs but have been waiting for a bigger screen with hopes of Touch ID access. But right now it seems that I have to upgrade NOW.

Perhaps you could post a link to where you read this?

After some Googling, I found this page, which lists what is in iOS 15.6.1, but which doesn't seem to list anything in iOS 15.6.1 that would make it imperative to install "immediately":

https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/18240/
This page says that iOS 15.6.1 is already causing some problems for some users:

https://www.gottabemobile.com/5-things-to-know-about-the-ios-15-6-1-update/

This site makes it sounds like it is imperative to upgrade to iOS 15.6.1, but The Sun is a known source of hyperbole and, to be blunt, lies. Plus, they give no specifics on what is in iOS 15.6.1, or what about it is so important, whatsoever:

If you go to Apple's own Web site to find out about iOS 15.6.1:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213412

It sounds like this release has patched a couple of exploits that "Apple has heard of". Okay. But that's what they say about just about every iOS upgrade.

I think that you will be fine if you don't upgrade to iOS 15.6.1 immediately. In fact, given that there are reports that it has caused some folks some problems, I think that it might be wise to wait a few days before upgrading to see if Apple pushes out a 15.6.2 version to fix the bugs.

Following an announcement on the BBC’s Today programme today suggesting an urgent upgrade I’ve updated my wife’s 1st gen. SE and my 2nd gen SE, so far without problems. I suggest that this thread should be moved to the iOS forum.

The 1st gen iPhone SE supports iOS 15.6.1, so simply go to Settings->General->Software Update and get the update.

I know how to do this procedure. That is not a problem. All the links I posted was to a response to a member asking me to provide links. So I linked.
But I have read numerous problems with this upgrade esp on 1st gen SE phones so I was reaching out about these issues with this upgrade. Seems like the upgrade is being pushed NOW but I was searching for info if on the upgrade itself causing other issues.
BTW it was suggested this move to IOS forum but this upgrade is recommend for numerous operating systems across different Apple products.

The longer you go between updates on any of the devices, the more likely you're the chance of running into issues. I was running 15.6 before and updated to 15.6.1 on my iPhone without any issues in about 10 minutes. I was running macOS 12.5 and updated to macOS 12.5.1 on all of my Macs in about 15 mins without any issues.

So just keep your devices up to date, especially iOS/iPadOS/watchOS and you'll be fine.

Just for info:

Two iPhones and two iPads all updated to 15.6 without any problems.

(Also the Big Sur update to my wife’s MacBook Pro went without a hitch. In effect, it’s really just a Safari update. No reboot required)
