I just found out that the new 4.0 software will not support 1st gen devices.
I have a 1st gen ipod touch that I spent hard earned money on. My issue is the future of the app store on my touch. I know there will be a apps that I can't use, but what about apps that do not need the 4.0 features to run (like pandora and documents2go)? will I still be able to use the app store?

Yes the iphone OS 4.0 is seperare on the whole to the itunes store. You can still run and purchase most of the apps there no worries. So don't worry. You can still use the old OS to access the App store. You just will not get all the fancy features of 4.0
