So, I'd appreciate it if the peanut gallery keeps their "want to be a parent" comments to another thread... I was asking about a gift.

You asked what to get him, people responded with their opinion. If you're going to be hostile to people's suggestions that you don't agree with, I suggest you don't post a question asking for responses.

"Schweb" I asked for gift ideas not for other's parenting values and principles on child rearing... And I'm not being hostile. I'm merely giving MY opinion.

Cheers Mate.

Actually no, you were being hostile. The others were very polite in their suggestions. You chose to respond in a condescending manner while throwing in some name calling.

Yes, you were hostile. Our forum rules also prohibit personal flaming so I suggest you be careful how you respond in the future.

I agree. Although you DID come across a little hostile, it is not unjustified. Telling another parent how to raise a child is very, very improper and often offensive.

It would probably be a good idea for all parties to chill on this issue. I am sure no offense was meant.

I just bought him a book "Of Mice and Men" and tickets for us to a play... Romeo & Juliet for Saturday night. I still think I'll grab that new game he was talking about. Remember, he's been off the video games for 8 weeks. :) I appreciate all the input!

Correct. Just some advice for everyone, if you want to stay a member here, don't send a nasty, rude PM to the staff ;)

That's very good advice schweb, I think a nasty or rude PM to anyone is out of line. People should be able to be calm and rational in these forums. For crying out loud, it's an online forum. If you get a little angry all you have to do is walk away from your computer.

He didn't send any nasty PM to anyone, he merely sent an email to Schweb telling him to take his own advice.
