A Japanese site has the first teardown of the slim iMacs and turns out that the RAM on the 21.5" is actually socketed DIMMs that can be replaced if you open the iMac. The 27" iMac apparently has a small access panel to get to those DIMMs..
The problem, however, is that there are only 2 slots for memory modules instead of the 4 that are on the older 21.5" models. Which means unless you want to open that baby up and do the upgrade yourself, you're pretty much limited to what Apple offers as an option. Wonder how much 16 GB modules are going for?
Hard to believe those can compete with the 2011 iMacs in terms of performance - in such a slim line form factor. Amazing. Look forward to seeing benchmarks on these.

Sounds like some friends of mine who've been on a diet for years. Always difficult to remove that fat around the center! ;P
I read something really cool about the new iMac's. They are apparently assembled in the USA! Were the last gens also assembled in the USA?
