In my opinion I really prefer the glass covered monitors, I think not only does it help the screen look nice but it makes it so easy to clean with little to worry about when doing so, unlike cleaning lots of other LCD displays the glass hardly leaves streaks also.

So is there a reason many other companys dont do this? Are there serious draw backs? Hard to do? Let me know guys, thanks!

Two reasons I can think of: 1. Cost 2. Weight - glass is heavy especially when covering a large display.

Regards.

3. Not all of us like the glossy display inherent with glass screens either.

Glass died with CRT monitors. LCD is far better with plastic, and as has been said, cost and weight are the main issues here along with thickness. A 1 or 2mm thick piece of glass would break at the slightest knock.

Can't color calibrate a glossy screen as well as a matte. Light sources make glossy screens useless too.

The glass would not break as it'd be that shatter/bullet proof stuff. But how much that costs compared to mormal glass I dunno.
