tried to open my safari a question mark appeared over it

it was the - O. your font was much clearer and I could see it was a capital O and not a zero!
your picture made all the difference!

Just so you will not feel too bad I did the zero at first also as I was in a hurry. :D

I feel bad for not posting a screen shot of my terminal. I was going to but got a phone call. Glad you got it all sorted.

Now that you have Firefox up and running you can get Safari in no time.

With iPhoto you don't need Pacifist, just insert the restore discs that came with your mac, choose "Install Bundled Software Only" and after you agree the terms a Customize button should appear bellow.

From there you can install the whole iLife suit that came originally with your mac, or just the ones you need.
