Cast my vote for Transmission. I'm a torrent newb, but after downloading it, I was able to grab several sizable torrents rather quickly. It was very easy to use.

You can go to your torrent preferences menu and see check the dowload location if it has a default. You can also make sure its downloaded to somewhere if your missing 5gbs of space on your hd or near that?
