In need of a Thunderbolt 2 extension cable (Female to male). Does any company make one?

This is to connect an ethernet/usb hub via thunderbolt
The permanently attached cable is too short (about 3")

I have no idea if there is such a thing but if anyone would have one it would be www.monoprice.com. Try there.

It might work since Thunderbolt is supposed to be backward compatible to Mini Displayport. He says he needs a Thunderbolt 2 extension cable, are they the same?

@MacScout

I can't find an extension cable, but you can buy Thunderbolt 2 cables ranging from 0.5 metre to 30 metres at OWC/MacSales - https://eshop.macsales.com/search/Thunderbolt 2 cable

Not at all sure if this would suit your needs, but it's a great site for most Mac-related things.

I think so. My 2015 iMac has Thunderbolt 2 ports and the Mini Displayport connector I use with my 2008 MacBook Pro works fine in the Thunderbolt 2 port.

So would a mini display extension cable work?
I am using the Kanex Thunderbolt-Ethernet adapter (also has a UB 3.0 port on it)

What I am trying to do is velcro it to the back of my laptop. (I currently have a USB hub, SSD, Sound card and CF reader velcroed to the back and would like to do the same with the thunderbolt to ethernet adapter as I keep forgetting it when I need it) The thunderbolt cable on the hub is just a couple inches too short to connect to the thunderbolt port while the display is open.

I think it would work but I am not sure. Never had to use one for that. I can say that the Mini Displayprt adapter that I use for external monitors fits my Thunderbolt 2 port on my iMac.

When I googled this for you MacScout several sites had warnings about the Mini Display not being suitable but with the lack of anything else, other than OWC's minimum 10 metre cable (33 feet) give it a try.

Is there a Thunderbolt Dock (i.E. Elgato, Call Digit, Belkin, etc...) which can be used without AC Power adapter? (With only the Ethernet plugged-in...I understand Thunderbolt carries very little power and would not bus-power much more)
