i have an external drive with very important content (Transcend).
When i insert the drive to my computer, it takes some minutes to recognize it and then the message "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" appear.

I opened the terminal and "diskutil list":

after i have dome diskutil repairDisk /dev/disk2 it wrote me "Partition map repair complete; you might now want to repeat the veryDisk of repairDisk verbs to perform further checks and repairs.

but it doesn't help ( i have tried many times "repairDisk /dev/disk2").

anyone know how to solve it?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

How is the external drive formatted? What is the partition format GUID or Apple Partition Map?

The disk is defective. If the data on it is important, you're probably going to need to send it to a data recovery specialist which will be very expensive. $$$

Have you or anyone you know close by have DiskWarrior.app that could be tried and maybe recover?

Or one of the others like DataRescue.app???

Certainly both of those apps are worth a try, however, at around $100 each and after the command line repair disk command failed to repair the disk, I'm doubtful either would work. Disk Drill (the free version) would be a better choice.

It might also be worth trying connecting the drive to a different computer and/or port and even try switching and using a different new known good working cable.
