Some new pieces...

Started work on a new piece now, having watched Gone With The Wind yesterday again for the umpteenth time, I decided it was about time I did another portrait as that is where I am best suited (although I have spent a lot of time recently working on other subjects to get some practice and to further my skills), so I have started on a large portrait of Rhett Butler (about time, always admired Clark Gable!)

It's not finished by a long stretch of the imagination but it's a good way in, it's a 16x12 acrylic portrait.

Should have it finished by the end of the week :flower: Usual tools, PowerBook G4 12inch, Intuos 3 4x5 and an old but reliable Sony Trinitron CRT :flower:

Large picture alert...

I'm working on getting my website out and sorted today, so hopefully the rest of my portfolio will be around soon enough... in the meantime however; finished another piece this morning.

This one was done with Photoshop CS2 and Painter IX.5, I have called it 'Redbridge', simply because that is where the original photo was taken, at Redbridge Interchange on the North Circular in East London (not far from where I lived when I was little) with the A12/A406.

Where Redbridge is: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=51.582&lon=0.0481&scale=25000&icon=x

I wanted to do something a little environmental, dare I say even political this time around as usually my work I try to keep as naive as possible to any politics as possible... Anyway... here it is, it's just under 1MB in size so do be warned...

Only the Redbridge one at the moment will work... or should anyway but I'm getting the impression some people are finding it isn't working all the time :(

My other work will be put online in due course.

Okee dokee... that time again ;)

I have had a nice long weekend off work, and yesterday I finished another painting (I use Corel Painter IX and a Wacom Intuos 3)... I finally did what I had in mind for so long, a painting of poppies.

I have so named it simply for its vividness and the quality of light, and as a homage to one of my most respected painters...

Impression—Poppy

Hope you like :flower: Do note there is a fair bit of JPEG artefacting in order to keep the size down as much as possible.

Yes you guessed it...

But this time, something much more gritty, ugly, offensive, the kind of stuff for which I really paint:

Mancunian Brutalism: http://www.lilserenity.com/MancBrut.jpg

Mancunian because the name of the road that is elevated is Mancunian Way, or the A57(M) in Manchester. The painting is based on a photo from around 1967-1970'ish.

(Photo: http://www.lilserenity.com/MancBrut_OrigSubj.jpg)

Brutalism after the 1960s style of stark architectural style that boomed and collapsed horrifically.

A deeper piece if you will!

Vicky
(This was again a painting done on a Mac + Intuos 3 + Painter IX.5 + Time :flower: )
