Wow I really need to be more geeky :( i really appreciate your quick response.

I'm at the "to set up the installation of Mac osx 10.7" screen. And also a message regarding eligibility to DL and restore.

Is this right? Just continue?

Hmm I don't see option to erase hdd? It looks like it's going to upgrade again.

At the very first screen, you need to open Disk Utility to erase your existing system partition. Once that's done, you can proceed with the download and installation.

Erase then reboot?

Ok just to be clear before I go ahead with this. :)

I boot up to my current os. Goto disk utility. Erase the hdd.?

Then shut down the Mac.

Power on using ctrl/r? And install?

Sorry for the questions.

No...

Start with the machine powered OFF. Turn it on and immediately press and hold Command + R. This will boot from the recovery partition.

When the options menu comes up, choose to run Disk Utility. Find Macintosh HD in the left pane. Click the Erase tab in the right pane. Erase the disk. Close Disk Utility. When you come back to the menu, choose to run the install of OS X. That's pretty much it.

When it finishes, you should be prompted to run the Migration Assistant. Choose to restore from a Time Machine volume. This will put your files back in place.

Thanks thanks.....currently installing. I haven't done a clean install with my mid 2007 iMac.

I sure hope this helps the system run a bit smoother.

Personally found Lion works better when installed on a thumb drive rather than a DVD.

Did you mean FROM a thumb drive and not on one?
