Yes, there probably is. Put the clip in a Project, select it and in the Clip Menu, there maybe a Detach Audio option. You can do that or mute the audio via the Menu, or the Clip Inspector.just thought there would be a way to modify audio before that.

Dumb question but where is the Clip Menu.
Also, if you are lazy (like me sometimes) you can just mute the audio and overlay the new track.

If you double click on a clip in a Project, do you get some thing like this, with a volume slider?
If not then again, a good reason to upgrade for the much better audio edotin of iMovie11
I take it that the volume slider doesn't do anything to the clip volume level?
