It might not be a bad idea. I have a MacBook Pro, which are known to run warm, but my limited experiences with the standard MacBook is that it usually runs very cool compared to other non-Apple notebooks.

I know there have been issues with over-application of thermal compound to the CPU, northbridge and other common heat-generating chips, which will result in temps running significantly higher than normal. So far, this seems to effect the MBP more than the MB, but if they're built in the same factory, it wouldn't surprise me if the same was happening on both models. That should be a very easy fix that any competent tech can do for you.
